Carpos: A Masterpiece of Packaging Design

Handcrafted Elegance Inspired by Nature and Greek Tradition

Carpos, a limited edition extra virgin olive oil packaging design, is a testament to the power of inspiration and the beauty of handcrafted elegance. Created by Panos Tsakiris, this design is a fusion of organic forms, minimalism, and the rich cultural heritage of Greece.

The inspiration for Carpos came from the organic forms of olive tree trunks and the bond between mother and child on a summer day in Greece. This emotional and natural connection is reflected in the design's unique properties. The bottle, handcrafted from numerous clay prototypes, holds a limited production of extra virgin olive oil from 750 meticulously preserved olive trees in the mountains of Rhodope, Greece.

The packaging of Carpos is an eco-friendly marvel, composed of fifteen layers of recycled and recyclable kraft paper with no added adhesives. This minimalistic design approach not only aligns with the brand's commitment to sustainability but also adds to the product's aesthetic appeal. The tactile experience of the packaging, combined with the organic form of the bottle, engages the user's senses, creating a unique unboxing experience.

The realization of Carpos was a collaborative effort, bringing together individuals from three different countries. Despite the time differences, the team, led by Tsakiris, managed to overcome the challenges and deliver a product that is a testament to their dedication, creativity, and technical expertise. The bottle was sculpted and molded by George Vavatsis, while the case mold making and manufacturing were handled by foldings. The design was printed by gramma, with photography by dt.Shoot and typography by Kostas Bartsokas.

Carpos is not just a packaging design; it's a story of inspiration, dedication, and craftsmanship. It's a celebration of Greek tradition, a tribute to nature, and a testament to the power of design. The design was recognized for its creativity and innovation, winning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2018.
